Judith Monk appointed BEM

Many with not too long memories will remember Judith Monk, deputy editor for about 15 years from approximately 2000 to 2015. During those years when she was busy keeping the magazine vibrant, revitalising the readership profile and interviewing not less than hundreds of artistes, composers, actors and musicians she was also busy running the Hastings’ YMCA on a voluntary basis. All will be pleased to know that in the King’s first Birthday Honours’ list Judith was appointed BEM – the British Empire Medal – (and for those who oppose the imperialistic overtones, the British Excellence Medal) for her unbroken 40 years of service to the voluntary sector. Many many congratulations are in order.
